GUIDELINES: POLICE CERTIFICATE OF CHARACTER

PLEASE NOTE:

 

 

 

  • A Police Certificate of Character is also known as a Police Clearance Certificate or a Good Conduct Certificate. It is an official document issued by the Guyana Police Force, after conducting background checks, stating whether or not the Applicant has a record of previous convictions in Guyana.

  • If fingerprinting cannot be done by International Fingerprinting Services in the country of residence, then an appointment must be made to have it done at the Embassy.

  • Certified English translations of all documents in foreign languages are required.

  • All Original documents will be returned to the Applicant.

    DOCUMENTATION:
  • Completed Application Form

  • Three (3)Passport-sized photographs

  • A coloured copy of the Bio-data Page of the current Passport

  • Original Certificate of Birth

  • Original Certificate of Marriage/Divorce Decree/Deed Poll (if there was a change of name other than that on the Certificate of Birth)

  • Set of Fingerprints (This can be done at the Embassy or any International Fingerprinting Services). Download form here.

PAYMENT CAN ONLY BE MADE BY BANK TRANSFER. CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED.

The Embassy would not be in a position to process an Application if the respective fees are not received.

PLEASE TRANSFER THE EXACT FEE INTO THE ACCOUNTS. THE EMBASSY WOULD NOT BE IN A POSITION TO REFUND ANY EXCESS PAYMENT.

 

 

PROCESS:

 

An Application for a Police Certificate of Character can be submitted to the Embassy either in person or through the post. The Embassy will send the Application to be processed by the Guyana Police Force in Georgetown, Guyana via courier. This process can take approximately three (3) months.

Once received, the Embassy will dispatch to the Applicant, the Police Certificate of Character, via Registered Mail to the return address stated on the self-addressed envelope.

The Applicant is required to confirm receipt of the Certificate and other documents by signing and returning to the Embassy the “Receipt of Documents Slip” via email address (consular@embassyofguyana.be)
